As the most dominant type of affiliate programs, pay per sale enables webmasters to earn on each sale generated through their website. If you refer a visitor to the merchant's site and the visitor makes a purchase, you get a percentage of the sale as a commission. Most programs offer a flat percentage rate on what is actually purchased. There are usually many restrictions about the actual payment of funds earned. It is important to understand them completely before promoting the program.
